A Study on the Impact of DPF Failure on Diesel Vehicles Emissions of Particulate Matter

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is an after-treatment device designed to capture and store exhaust matter emitted by vehicles. DPFs are damaged owing complex reasons, such as regeneration processes loads generated during driving. While can be damaged, they also manipulated, especially with hollow damage. In cases, the filtration performance deteriorates significantly, excessive amounts of smoke ash driving, resulting in environmental pollution. this study, DPF damage types were observed using CR X-ray imaging technique without removing DPF. addition, it was experimentally determined that five shapes (normal, crack, melt, plug, hollow) caused increases particle number (PN) concentration. Experiments conducted Korea Diesel 147 (KD-147) vehicle driving mode, PN concentration measured a nanoparticle emission tester 3795 (NPET-3795-HC) opacimeter (OPA-102).
